Heartbroken
Portugal 1-0 Holland
Holland is out of the world cup. My heart sank just typing those 7 words. I did not realised how emotionally attached i am to the team till this morning. My love affair for the team have just started but it ended so abruptly. It's like you have just taken one bite off a really good ice cream when someone knocked you off and the ice cream just went splat. It's utterly heartbreaking. I am aware that Holland's chances of going far in the tournament is pretty slim due to the players who are relatively young and therefore lack in experience. But it's just plain sad. When Maniche of portugal scored the goal at 20+min, i know it'll be tough for holland to get one goal back. At this stage of the tournament, you'll most probably win the match if you score the 1st goal. Holland have several shots on goal but i must say that several chances went wasted. I was naive enough to have thought that Holland might just steal a win when Portugal's Costinha received the red card. But not long after, Holland's Boulahrouz also got red carded followed by Portugal's Deco and Holland's van Bronckhorst. I was up on my feet numerous times but ended up slumping back on the sofa with sighs of frustration. Why so affected by a football match? That, i have yet to find out. Now that Holland is out, I'll probably watch less of the world cup. It just won't be the same without your favourite team to cheer on. Perhaps they will go further in euro 2008?
First day of work was quite ok. I have had much better days. But it's only day 1. 99 days left. Hopefully, the upcoming days will be much much better. Insya'Allah (God willing). There were times when i really felt being the minority. But that's reality and i know i have to get used to that feeling. I am not a big fan of changes and will usually take quite a while to get used to it. Now, i'll have to adapt to changes every few weeks as we will be rotating duties.
I know that my perseverance and dependence on others will be heavily tested. I hope hope i will succeed in becoming a more independent and patient person. Insya'Allah.
