Nisa's trip to the NEWater 'beauty' centre
Yup, another Nisa-inspired entry. I have one point to add in regards to the 'kids 101' entry. When you want to ask a kid a question, make sure you have lots of time to spare because apparently, kids love to tell stories so one story will lead to another. And be warned that most of the time, whatever they will say next will be 25% answers to your question and 75% not concerning your question. But majority of the time, it's 100% entertainment. Few days ago i asked her about her field trip to the NEWater place with her classmates. My exact question was "how is NEWater made"? And the answer i got? It'll be 6 paragraphs long if i were to recall every bit of details she said so i'll just highlight the more interesting points. Her first statement was " Once upon a time, there is a little girl and her friends. They went to the NEWater 'beauty' centre.." Okay, let's pause for a while. I seriously thought she said "beauty" so i interrupted her to be sure that i heard correctly. She was like "no lah..'veetee' centre" Not helping. I tried to clarify with her again what centre it is exactly but she got quite annoyed so i just let it be and took it as "NEWater veetee centre' (i later found out it's actually NEWater Visitor Centre. veetee = visitor. hah) She then continued with the answering of my question, though technically, she havent touch on my question yet. She went about how much fun she had and all that. It was then that i decided she's digressing too far. So i asked the question "how is NEWater made". She went like "Oh..put dirty water in the washer machine and will get clean water" That's the only sentence that is relevant to my question. After that she went on about how much fun she had and the games that she and her friends played. But she's super adorable la. And ohhh..remember i mentioned kids learn fast? Nisa knows the scientific term of male's and female's genitals. I was super shocked to hear her mentioned those words. (okay, she did not pronounce the words correctly and i kinda correct her pronunciation, which makes me kind of guilty also right? But hey, i was in a state of shock and i have this habit of correcting her on pronunciation of words) I was even more shocked when she told me her teacher taught her those words. It's already in the syllabus ?? (note to self : Check with kindergarten teachers Kak Wai and Nura if the words are in the syllabus). Labels: nisa |
