Hari Raya '07

4 sets of family from mum's side. Little cute granny sitting down, second from right.

At a restuarant in malay village, where theres a gathering with the whole extended family from the great-grandparents to subsequent generations.

Younger cousins with younger sis. Ah, must be nice to be 13-15 year olds.

What i really like about hari raya visiting is meeting up with the relatives, catching up with each other's lives, seeking forgiveness, and such.
I absolutely love meeting up the cousins because we hardly meet nowadays. About 15 years back, we cousins frequently met up at great-grandparents' place to play. I had a nice conversation with cousins Sarah and Halif 2 weeks ago about our childhood moments. Sarah made a good point about kids nowadays having a boring childhood compared to what we had as a child. Now, kids play computer games, PSP and such, where there are not much human interaction. As a kid, i was more exposed to socially-involved games. there's the chicken-and-hen,
datuk harimau,
nenek nenek si bongkok tiga, block-catching, hide-and-seek. So fun laa ok. Sometimes, we cousins hog the playground nearby the great-grandparents place and pretended that the playground is our home and play
masak2 with sand. We pretended that we're power rangers (I remembered fighting with Hanis to be pink ranger). We pretended to be the kids from 'barney and friends' and sing the songs. We ran after our favourite karang guni man, Michael, whenever he's doing his rounds. We celebrated when a relative is getting married becauase that means we can play with each other longer. We went for trips to Malaysia together.
Now, we hardly meet up. Probably only 7 times or less, a year. But i'll always remember the fun times we had. They made my childhood memorable. We were the awesome sixsome. Thanks to Kak Dila, Hanis, Sarah, Halif and Hakim. And Kak wai was our babysitter. heh =)

Older and wiser.

Several years back. Who's who? Go figure!

Now, presenting the adorable babies and kids i met this Hari Raya.

Baby Qistina. She was only about 2 weeks old when i took this picture. She has such long fingers and toes. Mum reckons she's going to be tall like her father.

Mum with baby Qistina.

10-months old Nadra. I say those cheeks are for pinching.

Baby Iqlimiah! Isnt she gorgeous?? yes, the pictures are badly taken. Apparently my digi cam does not have the anti-shake feature, like what the salesgirl claimed. Boo. But can you see the colour of Iqlimiah's eyes? It's grey! Her parents are both malay, if you're wondering otherwise. My great-grandma's eyes are also grey. and hers is more prominent. I only found out recently that shes half-dutch. Cool, eh.

Little cuties - Atiqah and Umairah.

5-year old Aishah.

Last but certainly not least: Nisa, my favourite diva!

Nisa with her friends before they went in the class for their hari raya celebration.
