Trains.

4 common bad habits of Singaporeans in the MRT:

1) Slapping the 'hot seat' after someone just left it.
I think this is a very rude gesture. Especially if a person actually gave away his/her seat just to see the ungrateful person slap the seat like it's diseased. But now, the aunties have come out with a new strategy. Instead of slapping those seats away, they parked their belongings on the seat first. You know, chop the seat. They don't want to immediately sit after a person left. And they don't want other passengers to sit either. Such kiasuism is ridiculous. And it happened to me ok. I got tired of sitting down so i stood up. This auntie immediately parked her paperbags on the seat and only sat down abt 3 mins later. and she sat near the edge ok. She didn't even want to sit back. Well, I'm sorry im warm-blooded and you're not. It must have been fun laying eggs. (cold-blooded --> lay eggs. get it? ok, nvm)

2) Sleeping like you have not done so in 10 days.
I'm okay with MRT passengers sleeping. I do that too, sometimes. But it gets really annoying when the person next to you got so deep in his sleep that he decides to use you as his pillow. First, the head will slant slightly. Then it'll touch your shoulder. Slowly, his whole body will lean towards you. And you'll feel suffocated. And embarrassed. Because a stranger is leaning on you and 10 other strangers are staring at you like it's your fault.
I'd be fine if the passenger sitting opposite will return a sympathetic look and mouthed "I feel you". Or smile and acknowledged that it's a funny sight. Or do a circular motion of the finger near the temple, the sign used against people who is err, not right in the head. But no, the other passengers had to stare at me with a straight face, as if daring me to make a move. Thanks ah, strangers.

3) Tuning your MP3 player to speaker mode.
They just don't get it, do they? That people don't need background music in the train. It'd be perfectly fine if the music they played is listenable. But most often, it's something that you'd rather not hear. Haven't they heard that earphones exist?

4) Going in the train before other passengers alight.
Ah, my biggest train pet peeve. This point is not even worth discussing. Because Singaporean are so stubborn, they wouldn't listen. Why can't they just wait for 4-8 seconds for passengers to alight? Yes, you can't afford to miss the train. So it's ok for the others to miss their stop? Sick. And helllooo, if you're right at the side of the door, there's 99.8% chance that you WILL get to enter the train. So stop worrying and give way already!

Ok, I'm not angry. I'm just, concerned = )
